Cy Pres Distribution
“Cy pres” awards are designated by a court when there are residual funds in class action lawsuits, probate matters, and other court cases that cannot be distributed”.
Any party involved in any (class action) case can propose a Cy Pres recipient; however, the court has final approval.
The party proposing the cy pres recipient will have to explain to the court why the organization is a good fit for the particular case, and show how the activities of the recipient will promote the interests asserted in the case.
